Supporting tomorrow's biomedical professionals
Short courses, also known as continuing professional development (CPD) courses within on-course are those that enable professionals working in medicines R&D across Europe to enhance and expand their skills and knowledge and thereby promote career and personal development. Courses have been selected from scientific and therapeutic areas and key topics of relevance to the pharmaceutical industry, e.g. toxicology, pharmacovigilance, medicinal chemistry, regulatory affairs and drug discovery. Short courses (CPD) include short courses lasting one or more days, modules from master programmes that can be taken as stand-alone courses and longer courses leading to qualifications such as post graduate diplomas. They include traditional face-to-face classroom teaching, on-line distance courses and practically-based courses (e.g. teaching of laboratory techniques). On-course includes short courses (CPD) delivered by a range of course providers including universities, scientific organisations, professional societies, training companies and the IMI education and training programmes.
Although English is the universal language, it is recognised that there are many high quality courses taught in other languages. On-course therefore holds courses taught in over 20 different languages. The language of the course is clearly shown in on-course but the course description is always given in English.
On-course aims to have a comprehensive catalogue of short courses (CPD) in all relevant subjects including over 60 scientific and therapeutic areas from EU and associated countries plus online courses. We expect the number of courses to be in the thousands and therefore it will require on-going effort to identify and catalogue all courses. We are continually adding courses so the catalogue is growing all the time.
Do you know of, or have you been on relevant short courses (CPD) that are not in on-course?

Part of EMTRAIN's mission is to make course information more transparent for course seekers and we have assembled a dedicated team to help course providers meet a high standard of presentation. In on-course you will therefore see a key information box, followed by a short description of the course. The aim is to allow the course seeker to make an informed decision regarding course suitability without the need to search multiple pages of extensive text. We have also built in a course comparison feature where you can align your chosen courses and compare at glance attributes including cost, location, credits, length of course and number of students per course.
We welcome your feedback on any aspect of on-course and have therefore incorporated two feedback functions. Firstly, you can feedback in private and leave us your email if you’d like us to respond (use the feedback section below). Secondly, you can post your thoughts on our forum which will be shared with all registered on-course users. We’re particularly interested in:
